dc.description.abstractThe present work entitled "Improving reading comprehension through storytelling in 5- year-old students of the Francisco Bolognesi Initial Educational Institution, in the district of Cayma, Arequipa, 2023", where difficulties have been evident in the competition "Read various types of texts in their mother tongue”, has as a general objective to improve reading comprehension through the storytelling strategy in 5-year-old students of the Francisco Bolognesi Initial Educational Institution – Cayma and as specific objectives to identify the level of reading comprehension, apply the storytelling strategy stories and finally evaluate the impact of the storytellers. It is situated within the qualitative approach with the action research design, which responds to the need that was identified in the classroom. The unit of analysis is 23 boys and girls from the 5-year-old classroom of the aforementioned institution. Applying the action plan with 12 storytelling learning activities with the purpose of improving reading comprehension, where various instruments were used such as evaluation rubrics, field notebooks and interviews for exploratory research, action plan, impact evaluation and the experience report in order to collect and record information; From the triangulation of the data, it is shown that the children have managed to improve their reading comprehension, which becomes evident when acquiring explicit information, constructing predictions about the information in the stories and expressing tastes and preferences based on their experience.
